This book takes place in California on Belvedere Island. It’s about a girl named Annie who lives in Detroit with her mother and leaves to be a live-in nanny for the wealthy Libby and Walker Cohen. She couldn’t wait to leave her dysfunctional family and painful memories behind to start a new life with the perfect family. At first, life couldn’t be better. She falls in love with the Cohens, especially their little girl Zoe. She even begins a romance with the boy who lives next door.

Suddenly, weird things start happening. Annie becomes overwhelmed with keeping up with school and the work she
has to do for the Cohens, and things start to take a drastic turn for
the worst. Libby, who used to be close and friendly with Annie, starts giving her the cold shoulder and watches her every move. Her bedroom door is removed, the wallpaper is changed to a hideous yellow colour and she begins to have hallucinations.

I really enjoyed this book. I was hooked from the beginning and couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen next. This book is a great read. It’s a dark psychological thriller that will make you wonder what is really going on. It’s a suspenseful story about loss, grief and love. It’s a real page-turner.
