Claire Miller is another main character in my mystery thriller novel Masquerade of Lies. She’s the queen bee and head cheerleader at Willowdale High and is dating the most popular guy in school, Josh Banks. All the girls want to be her and all the guys want to date her. She’s the leader of her two minions Jessica Stone and Katie Marks. Claire exhibits relational aggressive behaviour, which means she likes to socially harm others by spreading rumors about them or manipulating them. She likes to verbally put down other people because it makes her feel better about herself. She knows she’s beautiful and popular and wants to throw that in everybody’s face. Her parents are divorced and she lives with her mother, who is always working, so she spends a lot of time at home alone. Her mother isn’t really involved in her life. She has a high paying and demanding job, so they have a lot of money. Claire doesn’t see her father very much, but she gets everything she wants, so she doesn’t really care. Claire thrives on drama and preys on girls she’s jealous of. When she sees Hanna she’s immediately threatened because she’s very pretty. When Hanna becomes friends with Claire’s boyfriend, Josh Banks, Claire starts to befriend her. Not to be nice, but to make sure she keeps a close eye on Hanna so she doesn’t overstep her boundaries. They become frenemies. Claire backstabs people and uses them to get what she wants. The only person she’s truly loyal to is herself. She claims she loves her boyfriend, but her actions suggest otherwise. When a girl from school is murdered, Hanna starts to suspect Claire Miller because of her behaviour. Not to mention the fact that Claire and the victim hate each other. Do you know anybody like Claire Miller?
